Get a Sneak Peek Look Inside the Cedar Rapids Big Grove Brewery

Big Grove Brewery in Cedar Rapids will officially open to the public next Thursday, December 14th, but we were lucky enough to get a look inside the new space a little bit early!

Located at 170 1st Street SW, the new Big Grove Brewery in Cedar Rapids is an impressive sight. The 21,050 square-foot space includes both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as an event room in the back. The press release says that it features "soaring wood-paneled ceilings, industrial furnishings, and mural artwork by artist Jamie Boling." The floor-to-ceiling windows on the front and left sides of the building allow for lots of natural light, and on the right side of the building there are huge garage doors that open up to the spacious covered patio. Guests also have a clear view of the brewing equipment from the taproom.

As far as food goes, the menu at Big Grove Brewery Cedar Rapids has been "carefully curated" by Chef Benjamin Smart and his culinary team. Each dish pairs well with beer, specifically lager, and the team told us that there are "no boring flavors." Some of the items we got to try during our visit include chocolate chip cookies, flash-fried brussels sprouts, homemade soft pretzels, spicy fried chicken, and the smoked pork burrito bowl. My absolute favorite of the bunch was the smoked pork burrito bowl, as well as the classic Big Grove Burger.

Big Grove Brewery Cedar Rapids will open to the public on Thursday, December 14th at 11 a.m. The press release states that the first 200 guests will receive a free commemorative beer stein. 20 taps will be available at both the main bar and the event room bar, and will include "a Czech Dark Lager, Czech Pilsner, Bavarian Hefeweizen, and Vienna Lager plus staples such as Easy Eddy Hazy IPA and Citrus Surfer Fruited Wheat, among others." 

The hours for Big Grove's Cedar Rapids taproom are:

• Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. (food available until 9 p.m.)
• Friday & Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. (food available until 10 p.m.)
