It's the time of year in the NFL where teams no longer in playoff contention see what they have in their younger players on the roster. It's also a time of year for bringing in new players from other teams. The Green Bay Packers were eliminated from playoff contention this past weekend. The team made several moves yesterday, including one involving a former Iowa State great.

Green Bay put starting running back Aaron Jones on IR for the rest of the year. They also worked out several young wide receivers and quarterbacks to see if they could add anyone to the roster. But the move that will excite Iowa State fans is that they signed former ISU wide receiver Allen Lazard off the Jacksonville practice squad.

Lazard officially signed with the Packers Tuesday and is listed on the active 53 man roster. He landed in Jacksonville earlier this year as an undrafted free agent and landed on their practice squad. He finished his ISU career as the school leader in receptions, receiving yards, and 100-yard games.

The Packers are at the New York Jets on Sunday.
