The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight had to cancel Flight #29, which had been scheduled for today, September 19th. This was due to the heavy fog in the area this morning. The fog prohibited the charter aircraft from landing in Cedar Rapids to pick up the Veterans for their trip to Washington D.C.

According to Public Relations Director George Rickey, "The trip was cancelled with the primary reason being the safety, health, and well-being of our Veterans." This is the first cancellation for The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight.

I feel sorry for the brave men and woman that were about to board this very special trip. These people fought for our country and deserve nothing but the best. As soon as we find out the new departure date, I'll be sure to write a follow-up blog.

If you see a Veteran today, give them a hug. Tell them thanks for serving our country and protecting our freedom...The deserve it.
