A fire has struck another apartment building on Blairs Ferry Road in Cedar Rapids. The fire that happened this morning was right next to one that caught fire on June 20.

According to the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, firefighters were called to the blaze at 2131 Blairs Ferry Road NE at around 2:15 this morning. While crews were battling the fire at the 12-unit Boston House Apartments, police officers held 3rd-floor occupants escape from the building, via a window. The building suffered moderate damage to a rear entry stairwell and hallway. CBS 2 reports three people were sent to area hospitals, suffering from smoke inhalation.

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department tells us Area Ambulance Service, Hiawatha Police, Cedar Rapids Police, Hiawatha Rescue, the Salvation Army, and the American Red Cross also assisted at the scene.

On June 20, 2018, a late-afternoon fire hit the building at 2135 Blairs Ferry Road NE. That small building is blacked out in the image below. It's immediately west of the Boston House Apartments. Four people were injured in that blaze.

May 8, 2017, another fire happened in that immediate vicinity. One firefighter suffered minor injuries in the evening blaze at 2135 North Towne Court NE. The Cambridge Townhomes building is the larger of the two buildings colored in black below. No occupants of the building were injured in that fire.
