FAQ’s For The 5k Rave Run

What is the Rave Run?

The Rave Run is a 5k fun run to help raise money for the Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation low income scholarship program.

When is the Rave Run?
The race is on Saturday, August 16. Packet/t-shirt pick-up and day-of registration will start at the McGrath Ampitheatre at 6:30 p.m. The Rave Run starts at 8:30 p.m. and DJ Dave A will be performing live until 11 p.m.

Where is the race?
The Rave Run will begin and end at the McGrath Ampitheatre, located at 475 1st Street SW in downtown Cedar Rapids. The race is a 5k, meaning 3.2 miles, and the route will take runners over the river, to 5th Street, then down 7th Ave along the river and back again to finish at the McGrath Ampitheatre. How much is it to register for the 5k Rave Run? How do I register?
Registration is $35 for adults, and $25 for kids 12 and under. If you sign up with a group of 4 or more, each member gets a $5 discount. Registration would be $30 for each team member.

You can register right now by clicking on this link. Runners can register the day of the Rave Run at a discounted price ($20) but they will not receive t-shirts or neon gear with day-of registration. A concert ticket to DJ Dave A will be included for runners who register the day of the race.

What does registration include?
Pre-registration (before August 16) includes an exclusive Rave Run shirt, 3 pieces of rave gear, and a concert ticket for the DJ Dave A rave at the McGrath Ampitheatre after the race.

Is there an age limit for this run?
No. Any age can participate, and kids 12 and under can race for $25, or $20 if they're in a group of 4 or more.

Should I wear anything special?
You should absolutely dress up! We will be awarding prizes for these categories: Best Male Glow, Best Female Glow, Best Team Glow, and Best Child Glow.

Can I still go to the DJ Dave A rave if I don't want to run the race?

Absolutely! Tickets for just the DJ Dave A show are available to purchase here for $16.10. This show is the last installment of the 2014 McGrath Music on the River series at the McGrath Ampitheatre.

Where should we park?
Street Parking  is located on 1st Street SW, across from the main entrance.

• Patrons are encouraged to not park on residential side streets adjacent the McGrath Amphitheatre.

• Metered street parking is available as well.

Lot and Ramp Parking

There are several lots and ramps open to the public for parking (parking fees may apply). For additional questions about lot or ramp parking please contact Park Cedar Rapids at 319-365-7275.

• Parking Ramp – GTC Parking Ramp – 201 4th Avenue Southeast.

Can I bring in food and drinks? What about a backpack with extra clothes? Or even just a purse?
Here’s what’s allowed: Backpacks / purses (may be subject to search), binoculars, cameras (only point-and-shoot, no professional grade cameras), ponchos / rain coats if weather dictates, blankets, and bagged lawn chairs

Here’s what’s not allowed: Outside food or beverage, animals (service animals are welcome), audio / video recording devices, coolers and picnic baskets, folding lawn chairs, umbrellas, firearms of any kind, fireworks, or any other pyrotechnic devices, frisbees, glass bottles, illegal substances of any kind, in-line or roller skates, skateboards, scooters, bicycles, laser pointers, mace/pepper spray or any type of chemical spray, musical instruments, or weapons of any kind
