Additional Information

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, is a tragicomedy by Tom Stoppard. The play is told from the view of two minor characters from Shakespeare's Hamlet, the courtiers Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. The action of Stoppard's play takes place mainly "in the wings" of Shakespeare's, with brief appearances of major characters from Hamlet who enact fragments of the original's scenes. The characters finally get a chance to take the lead role, but do so in a world where reality and illusion intermix, and fate leads our two heroes to a tragic but inevitable end.
