Last Friday, 20-year-old Cody Haley of Eldora was killed when a tree fell on him during a training exercise at Camp Pendleton in California.

Haley, who was a Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps, was loved by his comrades. They posted a beautiful tribute online, including a video of one Marine singing the Luke Bryan song "Drink a Beer."

They also posted these photos:

When Cody's mom, Kim, saw the tribute she knew what needed to happen. She wanted all the Marines in his platoon to be able to attend the funeral. She told WHO, "It was the most beautiful and touching thing that I've ever seen in my life."

Fundraising was set into motion locally and on the Marine Parents Facebook page late Tuesday morning. In less than six hours, the goal of $35,000 had been met.

Kim Haley says she hopes her son is "remembered as a kid full of life, energy, and that small percentage that decided to step up and defend our country."

Cody's funeral date has not yet been announced but one thing is known for sure... his entire platoon will be there to honor a brother they all loved very much.
