The Eastern Iowa Airport (CID) is on pace to set another ridership record for 2018, according to the Gazette.

Ongoing expansion and remodeling of passenger terminals led to an increase in ridership every month of the year,  and an overall increase of 5.3 percent over last year in people boarding planes.

With the Iowa Hawkeyes making the Outback Bowl inTampa and Iowa State heading to the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, passengers booking flights to those warmer destinations this month should boost numbers even further, according to officials.

October outpaced the same month last year as the airport saw nearly 109,100 passengers, breaking last year’s October record by 6.5 percent.

The full remodeling project is scheduled to be finished sometime next summer, so it's safe to say we can expect more and more passengers and visitors to be using CID in the future.

Overall, the Eastern Iowa airport accounts for 30 percent of all Iowa airport travel.
