Over 40 Cats Dropped Off at Eastern Iowa Humane Society
The Dubuque Regional Humane Society got quite a surprise this past weekend. Someone left eight UHaul boxes, full of over 40 cats, in front of their facility Sunday morning. They’re not sure who left them or why.
The center took in the cats of course. They were all treated for fleas and ear mites. They’ll all be spayed and neutered too. But the shelter went from having room for 51 cats to having 85 in-house. Since the facility is officially over capacity, they’re looking for anyone who could be a possible foster home for some of the animals.
In the meantime, donations to the shelter are also needed. Things like kitten milk replacement, wet cat food, litter, and paper towels are just a few things that the center is in need of. Despite the hassle, the Humane Society is still happy to have the cats. They say despite the owners not dropping them off by appointment, it beats just releasing them in town or out in the countryside.
