This Saturday at 11 a.m. the Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Golden Gophers get busy on the TCF Bank Stadium turf in Minneapolis. Back here in Cedar Rapids, we'll be busy helping the Cedar Valley Humane Society.

Join us for the seventh annual Draws for Paws, sponsored by Fleck Sales. Several eating and drinking establishments have come together to participate in the benefit.

Draws for Paws begins one hour before kickoff. Purchase a Draws for Paws souvenir cup at the shelter, 7411 Mount Vernon Road SE, or at any participating business. Cups are available for $10 on the day of the event or $7 in advance. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the souvenir cup sales benefit animals at the Cedar Valley Humane Society.

During the event, patrons with the Draws for Paws souvenir cup are entitled to $2 draws and $3 bottles of Miller and Coors products, with $1 of each sale benefitting the Cedar Valley Humane Society. Drink specials will begin at 10am and end one hour after the end of the game. Souvenir cup supplies are limited, and wristbands will be used when the supply is depleted. Patrons must be 21 or older to participate.

Raffle tickets for a chance to win a Toshiba 50-inch LED TV will be on sale at each of the participating establishments. Tickets cost $5 apiece or five tickets for $20. The winner of the drawing will be announced the following week.

Cedar Rapids' participating businesses include Parlor City, NewBo Alehouse, and Red's Public House. Otis' Tailgators Sports Bar and Bricks Bar and Grill will offer bottle specials only. Eggy's on 965 in North Liberty also will be participating.

The Cedar Valley Humane Society provides refuge and medical treatment to more than 1,300 animals each year.
