It was a big deal when a new chicken restaurant opened in downtown Cedar Rapids in 2017. That restaurant is leaving its current home at the Roosevelt Hotel building, but it won't be going far.

The restaurant is merging with and moving into the Uptown Live music and comedy club at 1323 1st Ave. SE, as both are owned by Gerald Seals. Folks coming to Uptown Live for jazz, blues and comedies will be able enjoy the food from Harold's Chicken under one roof. Seals told the Gazette many of his customers intertwined between both entities, so combining them made sense. You can also order from Harold's through Uber Eats and Bite Squad.

Seals has been phasing Harold's Chicken's business and customers gradually over to the nightclub the past two weeks.

Until February of 2017, Harold's shared space in the Roosevelt building with the now-closed Jersey's Pub & Grub. No word as to what will become of that space as of now, and Mod's Market grocery store nearby appears to remain open as a Facebook post from earlier this week indicates they are hiring.

The ever-changing face of downtown Cedar Rapids continues to change.
