The Doomsday Clock moved ticked up a couple of minutes today. I think I need a doomy guitar riff. Before I give you my armageddonist outlay, here's the deal, doomers.

Climate change and nukes are sited as the most popular reasons for the uptick. The Bulletin Of Atomic Scientists moved the symbolic hands of the clock to 11:57 p.m. The clock was created in 1947.

"Today, unchecked climate change and a nuclear arms race resulting from modernization of huge arsenals pose extraordinary and undeniable threats to the continued existence of humanity," Kennette Benedict, executive director of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, told reporters. "And world leaders have failed to act with the speed or on the scale required to protect citizens from potential catastrophe. These failures of leadership endanger every person on Earth."

Since I've already ruined your day, may as well get some appropriate videos on your screen. Here's my list of top doom-filled ditties.

The closest The Clock ever came to midnight was in 1953. Iron Maiden wrote about the specter of that 11:58 p.m. occurrence.
