In some states it's actually legal to snap photos while voting, but in others? Not so much.

Call me crazy, but the thought of taking photos of my ballot when voting for president has literally never crossed my mind. I just want to get in, get out, and get it over with (especially this election season). I always assumed that was illegal, anyways. Turns out, I was only kind of right. In some states it is illegal to take photos while in your voting location, but in others it is totally fine.

According to CBS 2, the state of Iowa falls in the "mixed/unclear" category. They write:

"Law prohibits the use of cameras, cellphones or other electronic devices in voting booths, so Secretary of State Paul Pate has asked voters not to take selfies with ballots. Photos of absentee ballots are OK."

When it comes to other Midwest states, in Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, and Nebraska it isn't illegal to snap a selfie at the voting booth (although there are some restrictions). On the other hand, don't be doing that in Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, or Kansas, because you could find yourself in some trouble.

Should voting selfies or photos of your ballot be totally legal, or do you agree with Iowa's decision not to allow it? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
