A young northeast Iowa mother of three is fighting for her life after suffering a stroke. What doctors say caused it comes as a shock.

Nicole Rhoads of Grundy Center is in University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, in critical condition. According to KWWL, doctors say she suffered the stroke due to "neck manipulation by chiropractor." She reportedly suffered from a rare vertebral artery dissection, "a torn artery in her neck that leads to the brain."

Family members say that Rhoads went to a chiropractor for a neck adjustment last Monday. Following the appointment, she suffered from blurred vision, vomiting, and dizziness. After being taken to a hospital in Grundy County, she was airlifted to the U of I Hospital in Iowa City where she continues treatment. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nicole and her family.
