Death Cab for Cutie have announced their next and eighth album, ‘Kintsugi,’ which will arrive at the end of March. It’s their first in four years since 2011’s ‘Codes and Keys’ and three years since frontman Ben Gibbard’s debut solo album, ‘Former Lives.’

The name ‘Kintsugi’ refers to a Japanese art that mends broken ceramics with gold, silver and platinum, drawing attention to cracks instead of disguising them.

“Considering what we were going through internally, and with what a lot of the lyrics are about, it had a great deal of resonance for us -- the idea of figuring out how to repair breaks and make them a thing of beauty,” said bassist Nick Harmer in a statement about the new album title. “Philosophically, spiritually, emotionally, it seems perfect for this group of songs.”

Harmer is undoubtedly referencing founding bandmate Chris Walla, who parted ways with the band last year. ‘Kintsugi’ will be Death Cab’s first album without Walla.

‘Kintsugi’ is slated for a March 31 release. You can find the full 11-song track list below:
