Could this Dead Rising film avoid the pitfalls that plagued the Resident Evil movies? We're going to find out in just a few months.

According to Game Informer, Crackle, Sony Pictures Televisions' video streaming service, will be first to air 'Dead Rising: Watchtower.' Watchtower is a feature film that takes the comedic, over-the-top antics of the Dead Rising series and brings it to life. The first game's protagonist, Frank West, is being played by Rob Riggle ('The Daily Show,' '22 Jump Street'). 'Dead Rising: Watchtower' is written by Tim Carter, who produced the 'Mortal Kombat: Legacy' series and wrote the amazing story of Sleeping Dogs. Also starring in Watchtower is Jesse Metcalfe ('John Tucker Must Die'), Virginia Madsen ('The Number 23'), Meghan Ory ('Once Upon a Time') and Dennis Haysbert ('Wreck it Ralph,' '24')

'Dead Rising: Watchtower' will premier March 27 on Crackle. Other video-on-demand services will be offering Watchtower afterwards, while a Blu-ray and DVD will happen at a later date.
