Around 11:40 p.m. Monday night the Davenport Police Department were sent to check on reports of shots fired. Upon arriving, they came upon a vehicle racing away from the area which they pursued in a chase and attempted to stop in a nearby parking lot. Blocking didn't help, because the car decided to ram the officers police cruiser in an attempt to escape at any cost. It worked. The man got away and drove off while the officers shot at him through the vehicle. Later, the vehicle was found empty and the man identified as the driver had a tough choice to make. He had been shot and decided it was important to turn himself in as he checked in to Genesis Medical Center an hour later for treatment of his gunshot wound.
