At the end of last year, former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic recalled that he and Kurt Cobain first recruited Dave Grohl as their drummer after seeing him perform with his previous DC-based punk outfit, Scream. Well, Grohl recently got to relive that part of his career at a recent gig in Australia, where he performed an old cut from his Scream days.

At the Adelaide show, Chicago punk rockers Rise Against opened for the Foo Fighters. During their set, they asked Grohl to join them for a cover of Scream’s “Came Without Warning.” Sure enough, Grohl got behind the kit, and one lucky fan caught it all on tape. Check out the performance in the video above.

The Foo Fighters are touring behind their most recent album, Sonic Highways, which landed last year. The band recently took home the awards for Best International Band at both the NME and Brit Awards. It was during the former that the Foos revealed they will headline this year’s Glastonbury festival.

Rise Against also put out an LP last year called The Black Market.
