Having won 3 consecutive division titles, there's no question that the St. Louis Cardinals are the class of the National League Central division. The Cards have made the playoffs for five consecutive seasons and have two World Series championships in the past decade. But 2016 might see a changing of the guard. The young, upstart Chicago Cubs are off to an 11-4 start, and their lead over St. Louis (8-7) is 3 games after taking 2 out of 3 against the Cards at Busch Stadium. The Cards spoiled Chicago's attempt at a sweep with a 5-3 victory on Wednesday.

In an attempt to overtake St. Louis in the division, the Cubs nabbed two guys this past offseason that played a big part of the Cardinals success in 2015 - outfielder Jason Heyward and pitcher John Lackey. Heyward is a terrific all-around player at 26, and Lackey deepens the Cubs rotation and brings post-season experience.

These two teams will face each other 16 more times during the regular season, so this isn't over by a long shot. Yes, a lot can happen with 147 games remaining! The two teams will meet up next May 23-25 in St. Louis.
