Could this be next year?  With a wealth of young talent and a great new manager (Joe Maddon), Cubs fans had a lot to be excited about coming into 2015.  Most people believed that, realistically, the Cubs were still one year away from making real noise.  The Cubs didn't think so.  First baseman, Anthony Rizzo even predicted that they'd win their division.  After an extra inning victory over the Pirates on Friday, the Cubs are riding a 5-game winning streak and sit in second place in the N.L. Central at 20-15.

It appears the Cubs have the hitting to be a real contender, but their pitching has had its problems.  The Cubs are likely to trade away some young talent for some pitching reinforcements at some point.  As it stands, the arch rival Cardinals have a comfortable lead in the division, but they can't continue to play .700 baseball.  They've also lost their #1 starter, Adam Wainwright for the season.  Yes, there are over 120 games remaining in this long, long baseball season, but Cubs fans might see their team playing well into October.
