A crowd of protesters gathered in front of Super Skate in Cedar Rapids Saturday evening in support of the LGBTQ+ community, and to protest the skating rink, after it was learned that two transgender teen boys were asked to leave Super Skate reportedly due to a customer complaint.

KCRG reported that the protest stemmed from a recent skating event where two transgender boys, who asked to remain anonymous, said they were asked to leave the roller rink while skating during a "boys only" skate session.

"The DJ had said two people complained," one of the boys said.

"We didn't personally see anyone complain," another boy said. The two boys said when they were asked to leave, it caught them off guard. "I've been going to Super Skate my whole life so I was just really disappointed and sad."

Let's hope that Super Skate comes forward with amends to correct this problem and quickly. All people, especially young adults, have the right to be accepted regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation.
