In a Teamrock article, Slipknot front man Corey Taylor discussed his struggle with alcoholism that affected his early career.

It's no surprise musicians become dependent on alcohol. Every concert they play is one giant party. People want to meet them, hang out, and drink.

I've been lucky enough to be backstage at a few rock shows. It seems there is always one thing behind the scenes: BOOZE. It's everywhere. I remember attending an after show meet and greet with Pantera. We partied all night with those guys!

The Teamrock article reports that "Corey has been sober since 2006 but when speaking to Anthrax leader Scott Ian on his radio show, Taylor says there was a time when he thought that without alcohol, he wouldn't be able to go onstage."

Teamrock reported that Taylor also told Ian that "There was a huge war going on in my head, and that fed the booze... I had bulls***ted myself into thinking that I couldn't go on stage without it."

It was 2006 that Taylor decided to clean up and he's been sober ever since. Good job CT, I'm glad you figured it out before it was too late.

Slipknot have several live dates scheduled throughout the remainder of 2016, with their next show taking place in Columbia this weekend. FYI: It's not he Columbia that we can drive to from Eastern Iowa.
