Cedar Rapids city leaders held another press conference this morning to update the public on the flood waters making their way towards the city. The crest is still expected to be at or near 24 feet by late Sunday and early Monday morning. That would make it the second highest river level recorded in Cedar Rapids. City manager Jeff Pomerantz noted that preparations continue. There are two sandbag stations open in the city. One is in Newbo near 11th street and the other is at the Ellis Pavilion in Ellis Park. Sandbags are FREE to anyone who needs them. Volunteers are also needed to fill sandbags.

Many city leaders noted how this flood is different than 2008. They stressed that we have to time to prepare and act accordingly. Officials with the Cedar Rapids fire and police departments also encouraged residents to stay safe. Avoid flooded basements and streets. You can view this morning's press conference below.

Mayor Ron Corbet announced that the city's press conferences for Saturday and Sunday will be held at the Cedar Rapids ice arena and will again be held at 10 a.m.
