A Cedar Rapids native will appear in one of the world's most famous fashion shows, televised by CBS.

Alanna Arrington was once a promising four-sport athlete at Cedar Rapids Washington where she played basketball, softball, track, and soccer. Then opportunity knocked for the teenager who stands 5-foot 10-inches tall and is a size two. Amazingly, she just turned 18 last week.

Arrington began traveling to modeling gigs when she was 15. First, it was a trip to Los Angeles where she would spend the summer following her 16th birthday. Last year, the Gazette reports she moved to New York City. She's already appeared for plenty of famous brands.

Now, just days after turning 18 it's the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, where being 18 is a requirement. Here's Alanna at her fitting for the show.

The show is actually held Wednesday, November 30 and will air on CBS-TV Monday, December 5. Clearly, Alanna is excited.

How did it all begin? Mother Model Management. Alanna tells Fashionista, "My mother agency, Mother Model Management, had an open call in my hometown (Cedar Rapids), and a couple of my friends and I were like, "Oh, we're tall, we're thin, we should totally go." So we did it, and they ended up being really interested. We kept in touch, and we ended up doing a show with them."

Congrats, Alanna Arrington on an incredible career already. Your home state of Iowa will be watching you on CBS Monday night and in the years to come.
