Sunday, October 1, Michael Olson of Cedar Rapids was riding a motorcycle when he was hit by a vehicle in the intersection of 20th Avenue and C Street S.W. The accident happened around 3:15 that afternoon, according to KCRG. The other vehicle involved was a 2000 Honda Accord. Olson's family says it was driven by a woman in her early 20's. They say she had long dark brown or black hair and ran south from the scene. Michael Olson sustained a brain injury and broken bones in the accident, and his family says he passed away yesterday (October 17).

A GoFund Me page had this sad update this morning:

It was a long 16 days he tried to fight after being hit on his motorcycle by a girl driving a stolen car with stolen plates who took off on foot. She has not yet been arrested. Due to one selfish persons actions my mother has lost her best friend of 40yrs, 3 children have lost their father, and 3 grandchildren lost a grandfather, as well as many friends and family that will now go without a man who would have done anything for anyone. My dad was the main income in the home but there was no health or life insurance, please donate if you are able or share so those that can may see this. Please continue to share this as well as the news story, it won't bring my dad back but it will give a little peace. Thank you all for anything that you have done.

KCRG says Cedar Rapids Police continue to search for leads on a suspect. If you have any information, please call (319) 286-5491.

To the person involved, please come forward. It's the right thing to do. It's the only thing to do. Michael Olson was just 63.
