Over 40 volunteers showed up Saturday and Sunday to help sort and load donations into huge semi trucks outside the JMS Trucking headquarters in Cedar Rapids.

The team of helpers and haulers are getting ready to take two trailers packed with donated food, cloths and basic supplies to Texas following Hurricane Harvey.

Riley Larson, General Manager of JMS Transport told CBS2 News "a lot of Cedar Rapidians know exactly what they're going through down there...I think it just makes them come out in droves and that’s what we've seen here”

The Gazette reports the crew will be heading out Wednesday to the World Harvest Outreach Seventh-day Adventist Church in Houston.

Local volunteers will continue to accept donations through 12 noon Tuesday at JMS company’s headquarters at 5650 6th St. SW in Cedar Rapids..

Larson said the following items are most in need at this time: bleach and bleach wipes, mops and mop buckets, brooms, garbage bags, bug spray, diapers, paper goods, canned food, meat products in pouches, toiletries, granola and breakfast bars and peanut butter.
