A local college won its seventh national championship on Saturday and finished the season with a perfect 37-0 record.

Congratulations to the Kirkwood Eagles women's basketball team, who completed the school's first-ever undefeated season with a 61-46 victory over Johnson County in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II championship game in Harrison, Arkansas.

What a season it was for Kirkwood... 37 wins by an average of 30.5 points. Now THAT is domination. It was the seventh national title for the Eagles under head coach Kim Muhl whose teams also came out on top in 1997, 2002, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. His record over 28 seasons at Kirkwood is nothing short of spectacular... 829 wins and only 174 defeats. A winning percentage of 83 percent.

There's something in the water at Kirkwood Community College when it comes to basketball. The men's team won the national championship last year. A look ahead to next year shows more great promise for the women's program. This year's team had 10 freshmen.
