If you see a little extra attention being paid to bridges in Cedar Rapids this week, don't worry. Actually, you might want to thank them. It's all part of routine bridge inspections being carried out by the Federal Highway Administration.

The inspections are done biannually and in Cedar Rapids, focus on bridges that cross the Cedar River. That includes bridges on 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 12th, and 16th Avenues as well as Edgewood Road.

Inspectors are looking for possible cracks and erosion and deterioration of bridge joints. If any problems are found, they will be fixed.
