Cedar Rapids Bank Robbery Update: 2 Men Arrested, Others Still At Large
Between April 28th and July 7th, there were 8 bank robberies reported in Cedar Rapids. One of these robbers was caught May 2nd, after fleeing the scene. Another pair was caught June 26th after fleeing the scene. Now today, the Cedar Rapids Police and the FBI report that 2 more men have been arrested in connection with 3 of the other robberies. According to Greg Buelow of the CRPD, search warrants were issued earlier today for 3 CR residences and a number of vehicles in connection with the string of robberies. From these search warrants 2 men were arrested, 25 yr old Damion M. Broderick and 22 yr old Timothy Broderick, in connection with the April 28th robbery at the US Bank at 2350 Edgewood Rd SW (Damion only), and both the June 25th and July 7th robberies of the Guaranty Bank at 191 Jacolyn Dr NW.
Internet rumors speculate both are white males, one of which may have worked at one of the banks, though nothing is confirmed. It’s also rumored one of the suspect’s facebook pages has the man asking for help, then apologizing for something shortly after the first robbery.
Even with the success, bank robbers still remain at large for the April 30th U.S. Bank robbery at 16th Ave SW, and the May 16th and May 29th robbery of the Guaranty Bank at 2711 Bever Ave SE. Their photos are below.
Note: No photos were released in connection with the May 16th bank robbery. Suspects in the May 2nd Hills Bank robbery and the June 26th US Bank robbery were previously caught on the dates of robbery.
