Back when we made the official transition over to "Iowa's Alternative," one of the first new artists to hit our airwaves was Big Data. The brainchild of producer/artist Alan Wilkis, Big Data is a crazy mash-up of electrofunk and catchy guitar riffs.

The single "Dangerous" became a huge hit -- hitting number one on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart in August 2014. It was one of the first new songs we played when we made the format switch last September. I was feeling the song when it first came out, and it's grown on me even more over time. I've been trying to play it on a more regular basis during my weeknight shifts.

It also doesn't hurt that Wilkis seems like a pretty cool, down-to-earth dude. He comes across really well in interviews and acts like he's intent on making unique music.

The first album from Big Data, 2.0, was released on March 20th. Check out a live performance of "Dangerous" from the rooftop of the Hollywood Tower:
