The Ambroz Recreation Center in Cedar Rapids is set to close this fall, according to the Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department. It as announced Tuesday that all of the center's programs will transfer to the city's new Northwest Recreation Center. That building will be compliant with the American's With Disablilities Act.

City officials say it's simply easier and more cost effective to move the programs to the new center, than to update and remodel the Ambroz building. The Parks and Rec Department also announced that they are looking for some additional space for some programs including music and ceramics. Several community buildings have already expressed interest in the Ambroz building.
