Texas 4000 for Cancer, a group of college students raising money for cancer research, made its way through Iowa City yesterday.

Texas 4000 for Cancer is a non-profit organization made up students from the University of Texas, whose mission is to, according to Facebook"cultivate student leaders and engage communities in the fight against cancer. We share hope, knowledge and charity through leadership development, grantmaking, and our cornerstone event, a 4,000+ mile bike ride from Austin to Anchorage." The group is currently on their 70-day adventure, and made a stop in Iowa City yesterday. The coolest part? One of the riders is from right here in Eastern Iowa!

Catherine Butschi of Cedar Rapids is one of the 21 riders on the trek to Alaska, and yesterday was day 32 of the trip. Here's part of her interview with KCRG:

The ultimate goal of the group is to raise $750 thousand for cancer research. You can read more about the organization HERE.
