A bus service transporting passengers between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City is set to launch October 1st.

Passengers can soon ride for $3.50 ($7 round-trip) on one of four Windstar Deluxe motorcoach buses between the Ground Transportation Center and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, with multiple other stops in between.

In addition to the $3.50 daily fee, a $125 monthly pass and $62.50 senior/disabled pass will be made available, as will a 10-day pass through the impending mobile app. The Iowa DOT is providing the funding for the service for the next five years.

Wi-Fi, reclining seats, restrooms and wheelchair lifts will be among the amenities provided. Organizers are optimistic about a large regular ridership. A spokesperson for the East Central Iowa Council of Governments told KCRG:

Not unlike a lot of transit services, people are excited for it. They think it’ll work well. We’ve had a lot of feedback. So far people are anticipating to ride it regularly

The 380 Express, whose website with route schedules, fees and other information is now online,  will alleviate a lot of traffic congestion from a long-term I-80/380 project in the coming years as well as offer those without transportation a chance to get around.
